Understanding The Right Way to Store Items

Moving Soon? Tips For Packing Up Your Kitchen Like A Pro

Do you have a big move coming up? One of the most difficult rooms in your home to pack up is the kitchen. It will help to know the following tips that will help you pack everything in your kitchen like a professional.

Purchase Packing Paper

As tempting as it may be to use old newspapers to wrap your kitchen items, you should consider using packing paper instead. That's because newspapers will have ink on them that can transfer to your kitchen items. The last thing you want to have happen is to ruin your fine china because you wanted to save a few bucks on packing material.

Stack Your Pots And Pans In Each Other

A great tip to save space in your boxes is to stack your pots and pans. Place the biggest item on top of several pieces of packing paper, and then fold the paper over so it stuffs the inside of the item. Then place the next largest-sized item inside of it, and follow the same steps of stuffing the corners of the packing paper inside it. You'll eventually get a stack of your pots and pans where they do not touch each other and can't get damaged during the move.

Purchase A Dishware And Glassware Moving Box

There are actually specially designed boxes for packing your dishware and glassware. What makes these boxes special is that they are going to be stronger than normal moving boxes, and they even have dividers so that your items do not touch. Buying these boxes can save you a lot of time and hassle by overprotecting these fragile items in a normal moving box.

Line The Bottom Of Normal Boxes With Packing Paper

If you do not have specialty boxes for your dishware and glassware, it will help to line the bottom of the box with crumpled packing paper. This helps give the items some extra cushion if the box were to be placed down on the ground hard since they won't come in contact directly with the ground.

In addition, you will want to pick small boxes so that your fragile boxes do not get too heavy. You should also stuff the top of the boxes with packing paper so that there is not a gap between the items and the top of the box.
